Today is the Kixpo 2008 Sneaker & Street Wear Expo from 2-7PM at Life in Deep Ellum. There is no cover and it is all ages. Free givaways and raffles plus DJ's Los Hip Hop Guys & Tyrone Smiley will be rocking the jams all day.

The Hives set to tour the U.S.A. this Fall

Swedish rockers The Hives will join forces with Eagles of Death Metal in September for a short run of Southwest and West Coast venues. Here is what the band had to say about the trek, "Women will weep. Men will rejoice. Children will dance. The Hives will rule." The tour kicks off on September 16th at Stubbs BBQ in Austin, TX.

One Day As A Lion: "Wild International"

One Day As A Lion, have posted their first new song. The band is the new project from Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine and drummer Jon Theodore, formerly of Mars Volta. The EP was recorded by Robert Carranza at Ocean Way Recording. It is due out July 22, 2008. You can find "Wild International" on their myspace page.

It appears that M.I.A. wasn't kidding...

It seems that M.I.A. really is done with music. A looped video has just appeared on her website showing what appears to be a advertisement for her new clothing line. In case you had not heard, at M.I.A.'s Bonnaroo performance about two songs in she stated, "This is my last show, and I'm glad I'm spending it with all my hippies". Then she canceled all of her tour dates. And now she appears to be focusing on this new project. I would have to guess that she was not saying that it was her final show just for dramatics

So two weeks ago, Mikey Rocks and Chuck Inglish a.k.a. The Cool Kids dropped "That's Stupid!" and I neglected to download it until yesterday. I cannot stop listening to it. No need to skip through any of it as it is only 25 minutes long. Plus it's fucking great.

New Bloc Party Video

The new video from Bloc Party, entitled "Mercury" is now available online. Bloc Party's fans were abuzz when the countdown on the band's website culminated in a teaser that prompted fans to check out Zane Lowe's BBC radio show on July 7, at 2:30 P.M. EST (7:30 P.M. in London). At about that moment, the scavenger hunt paid off, as the clip for "Mercury", the presumed first single off their as-yet-unnamed next album (which also has a to-be-determined release date) hit the Interweb. The song is more aggressive than their previous work, but that might not be a bad thing. Here, see for yourself:

LA-based Classixx, just released a video for their track 'Cold Act Ill'. Classixx have been rolling through Dallas alot lately at both Ghostbar and Glo Lounge with local boys Richard Blake, Justin Bell, and Jacque. Be sure to check them out the next time they are in town.
